Preaching: A Sion College online Seminar with David Hoyle (on Zoom videoconference)
Tuesday 17th November, 2020
7:00 for 7:30pm
Using Zoom, aiming to finish by 9pm
Many of us recognise a good sermon when we hear one but preaching one ourselves can be very different, especially on some Sundays towards the end of ordinary time.
David Hoyle, who is an Honorary Fellow of the College, is one such person. He has been Dean of Westminster for a year and prior to that, from 2010, was Dean of Bristol. He was ordained in 1986 and after a curacy in Cambridge and some years as a college Chaplain, he served as a Parish Priest in north London before becoming Director of Ministry in the Gloucester Diocese and a Canon of the Cathedral.
The evening will take place on Zoom with opportunities to meet others in breakout rooms as well as to ask David as many questions as possible, as we always aim to encourage at Sion events. The Administrator will send out the Zoom link to all attendees in advance of the evening. All attendees will also be sent wine and snacks – so attendees’ addresses will be given to John Lewis Partnership for this purpose.
If you have not yet registered for online payment you will be asked to do this and your registration will need to be validated by the Administrator before you can use the facility. You will only need to register once, and for any applications for subsequent events you will need only to log in. Payment is taken by PayPal, but you do not need a PayPal account.
Please note
Sion College events are often over-subscribed and each place is generously subsidised. If you are offered a place but are unable to attend for any reason, please let the office know so that your place may be offered to another.
