Afternoon Visit: The Supreme Court, followed by tea at Westminster Abbey
Speaker: Baroness Hale of Richmond, President of the Supreme Court
In 2009 the Supreme Court replaced the appellate jurisdiction of the House of Lords as the UK’s highest court. The Court sits in the former Middlesex Guildhall – an impressive building in the gothic style - on the west side of Parliament Square. It hears appeals on points of law of the greatest public importance for the whole of the United Kingdom in civil cases and for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in criminal cases.
