Visit and pub supper: Building Bridges: a guided walk reflecting on the story of London and the Thames
Speaker/Guide: Pete Smith
The Sion College party will gather at All Hallows-by-the-Tower for a summer’s evening stroll between Tower Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge (a distance of around 1.5 miles), exploring the history of each of the bridges we pass on the way. We shall walk along the south side of the river, and hear about the history of the bridges themselves, as well as significant London landmarks. Amongst many weird and wonderful facts about the history of London, we shall hear about the bridge that sprouted heads, the elephant that walked across the Thames, a daredevil pilot, and a quick-witted bus-driver!
Dinner will be at Doggett’s Coat & Badge, 1 Blackfriars Bridge, London SE1 9UD at around 7:30/ 8pm (on the South side of the river, overlooking the old Sion College building!)
