Seminar Supper: Business & Social Cohesion
Speaker: Catherine McGuinness, Chair of Policy & Resources, City of London Corporation
One of the most unsettling revelations of the last year, and in particular during the General Election campaign, was the clarity with which painful divisions across the United Kingdom were highlighted. The social fabric of the country had clearly been under significant strain and politicians of all parties as well as a wider group of the leaders of civic society and of the faith communities have become increasingly vocal in their expressions of concern. As is often the case in such circumstances the business world has been criticised and the City of London particularly.
This seminar supper will take place in the Basinghall Suite of the City's Guildhall and the caterers on the evening will be from The Clink who are regularly used by the City of London Corporation as well as more widely in the Square Mile. Based in Brixton Prison, the Clink trains prisoners who are working towards gaining their City & Guilds NVQs in Food & Beverage service, professional cookery & food hygiene. They have a stellar reputation for quality as their ratings on Trip Adviser testify.
