A Sion College seminar with Malcolm Guite

The Psalms - A Sion College seminar with Malcolm Guite - on Zoom

Wednesday 3rd March 2021: 7:00 for 7:30pm

As well as the name of a virus, a corona is a crown, the pearly glow around the sun in certain astronomical conditions and a poetic form where interlinking lines connect a sequence. It is the perfect name therefore for this new collection of 150 poems by the bestselling poet Malcolm Guite, each one written in response to the Bible's 150 psalms as they appear in William Coverdale's translation.

Malcolm Guite is the author of numerous bestselling poetry collections and anthologies. An accomplished singer-songwriter, poet and academic, he is also Chaplain to Girton College, Cambridge.

Applicants to this Sion College seminar are asked on the application form to confirm their postal address. Attendees will be sent a copy of Malcolm’s book, David’s Crown: Sounding the Psalms (RRP £12.99), during the week before the event.

Please note that the College will be donating all attendees’ fees for this event to Glass Door (Glass Door Homeless Charity) to support the work that this organisation does for the homeless in London, in partnership with churches in the Diocese of London and Southwark.

If you have not yet registered for online payment you will be asked to do this and your registration will need to be validated by the Administrator before you can use the facility. You will only need to register once, and for any applications for subsequent events you will need only to log in. Payment is taken by PayPal, but you do not need a PayPal account.

Please note

  • Cancellations notified after Tuesday 16th February 2021 will not be refunded
  • The Zoom link will be sent out to all attendees a few days before the event
  • It is Sion College policy that no events are recorded

Sion College events are often over-subscribed and each place is generously subsidised. If you are offered a place but are unable to attend for any reason, please let the office know so that your place may be offered to another. In the event of failure to attend without notice after being reserved a place, the Court will require a refund of the subsidy.  Application for a place at any Sion event constitutes acceptance of this proviso.
