A Sion College Zoom seminar with Paula Byrne
Monday 10th May 2021: 7:00 for 7:30pm
Her friend Philip Larkin called her “the era’s own Jane Austen”. But who was Barbara Pym and why is this English writer – one of the great chroniclers of the human heart – not more widely known?
Written with the wit and shrewd observations to match its subject, Paula Byrne’s new biography The Adventures of Miss Barbara Pym (William Collins) is the first to make full and unexpurgated use of Pym’s archive and sheds dramatic new light on both Pym the woman and the writer.
Applicants to this Sion College seminar are asked on the application form to confirm their postal address. Attendees will be sent a copy of Paula’s book, (RRP £25), as well as a wine package during the week before the event.
If you have not yet registered for online payment you will be asked to do this and your registration will need to be validated by the Administrator before you can use the facility. You will only need to register once, and for any applications for subsequent events you will need only to log in. Payment is taken by PayPal, but you do not need a PayPal account.
Please note
Sion College events are often over-subscribed and each place is generously subsidised. If you are offered a place but are unable to attend for any reason, please let the office know so that your place may be offered to another. In the event of failure to attend without notice after being reserved a place, the Court will require a refund of the subsidy.
